VTT takes precautions to prevent possible exposure to corona virus – employees returning from the epidemic area ordered to work from home for 14 days

Two VTT employees have traveled in Northern Italy as part of a 20-person group. One of the members of the group has presented with flu like symptoms following their return to Finland.

As a precaution, on February 26, VTT ordered the two returned employees to contact their occupational healthcare provider and work from home for the next 14 days. VTT employees have not presented with symptoms.

One floor of a VTT building located at Kemistintie 3 in Otaniemi, Espoo, where the two employees worked, has been emptied and disinfected as a precaution. VTT has informed the occupants and users of the building on Wednesday February 26.

VTT advices its employees to pay special attention to their hand hygiene. Work-related travel to China has already previously been limited, and travel to other epidemic areas will now be canceled. Employees returning from the epidemic area have been ordered to work from home for 14 days.

VTT monitors the situation actively and guidelines for personnel is updated as necessary.

 

Update 28.2.
The emptied floor of a VTT building in Espoo, Kemistintie 3, has been cleaned on Thursday 27.2., so others working at the location can return to the office on Monday, March 2. according to the guidelines from VTT’s occupational health services. The two employees who returned from Northern Italy are working remotely for 14 days.
