New project aims to take graphene-based manufacturing to industrial scale

News

VTT is participating in a pilot line project to develop the manufacturing of electronic, photonic and sensing devices based on two-dimensional materials, such as graphene and 2D semiconductors, towards large-scale production.

Due to its exceptional properties, graphene is subject to high expectations, especially from the electronics industry. The aim of the ambitious new project is to promote the introduction of graphene technologies from the prototype stage to practical applications.

Launched on 8 October, the pilot project will build a complete ecosystem around 2D materials with production technologies and set up three experimental production lines, one for VTT and the other for Belgium (IMEC) and Germany (AMO GmbH). The four-year pilot project 2D-EPL is part of the EU's Graphene Flagship project.
