Recognition from journalists for the reliability of VTT’s media communications

News, Company news

VTT’s media communications received recognition for the reliability at the Reputation and Trust Analytics Finland event on 20 March 2026, where the companies with the most outstanding media communications were honoured.

At the event, based on feedback from journalists, awards were given to the companies that during 2025 had taken the best care of their press relations and media communications. OP Pohjola received the most mentions for successful media communications. St1 ranked second, while Fazer and Nokia shared third place.

Recognition was also given to the companies that over the past 13 years have received the highest scores in Reputation and Trust Analytics’ (formerly T-Media) Mediabarometri-surveys. Over this period, feedback has been collected from journalists 4,631 times, and VTT holds the very highest score for trust. VTT’s record score of 4.47 (on a scale of 1–5) is from 2024.

“The importance of trust in our society has increased, and VTT’s score is exceptionally high. It reflects the excellent standard of the company’s media relations and the quality of its operations, as well as a growing reputation, in which VTT achieved a new record among journalists last year,” says Reputation and Trust CEO Harri Leinikka.

“Our media work is guided by the idea of creating added value for journalists. Its aim is to communicate proactively about the company’s research and impact, and it also has a strategic role in supporting Finland’s innovation capacity and the renewal of business and industry. We want to influence public debate by highlighting solutions, growth opportunities and Finland’s globally unique expertise,” says VTT’s VP, Communications and Brand, Leena Rantasalo.

Trust and impact at the core of communications

VTT has a great deal to share and a broad presence in the Finnish media. We carefully consider which topics and angles we offer to each media outlet. We actively train and encourage our experts and staff to communicate proactively, as trust is built through the actions of everyone at VTT.

“VTT is a dream place to work for communications professionals, with plenty of inspiring and meaningful stories to tell. We don’t believe in gimmicks, because trust is earned anew in every interaction. We invest in systematic and persistent work that creates added value for the media.”

The aim of VTT’s communications is to make the impact of VTT’s research and innovations visible, and to build trust and interaction with internal and external stakeholders. We communicate concretely about VTT’s role: our mission is to create impact by accelerating growth, creating new startups, renewing industry and strengthening societal resilience.

“VTT has a special mission in Finland, and we are funded in part by public money. That is why the trust of our stakeholders is particularly important for the legitimacy of our work and for making our impact visible. In this, media relations and the trust of journalists also play a key role,” says Leena Rantasalo.
