About me

Dr. Satu Paiho is a Principal Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland with over 35 years of R&D experience in energy and the built environment. She holds a D.Sc. (Tech.) in energy technology and is an IPMA Level C certified project manager. Her expertise spans energy efficiency, renewable energy systems, nearly zero energy buildings and districts, energy renovation, and circular cities. Her work focuses on advancing sustainable, resource-efficient, and climate-neutral urban systems, with particular emphasis on circular economy solutions in cities.

Dr. Paiho combines technical expertise with systems thinking and stakeholder collaboration to develop practical solutions and frameworks that support real-world implementation. She has a strong publication record and a Scopus h-index of 21 (as of June 2026), reflecting sustained and impactful contributions to research and innovation in her field.
