Alexey Popov

Alexey Popov is a Principal Scientist at VTT, Senior Member of SPIE and OPTICA, developing and popularising advanced photonic technologies for in vivo and in vitro applications. His multidisciplinary leadership at VTT has established a solid foundation for design and implementation of non-invasive wearable and portable biomedical sensors via comprehensive simulations of light-biotissue interaction and biotissue-mimicking phantoms. He has published over 150 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings. His ambitious vision for human-like robotic skin was awarded the ‘Wildest Idea’ prize at PrintoCent InnoFest 2023 competition.
