Welcome to the second IEA Bioenergy Task 41 workshop on Bio-CC(U)S!
In the aftermath of the COP 21 and with the Paris Agreement being ratified we are taking another important step towards actions that can reduce GHG emissions and mitigate climate change. New updates on the IPCC emission scenarios are underway, and new scenarios are likely to escalate the significance of negative emissions in order to reach the climate goals.
The IEA Bioenergy Task 41 on Bio-CCUS will, in cooperation with Bellona, arrange a workshop on Sustainability and GHG impact of bio-CC(U)S. This will be a golden opportunity to gather colleagues from different Bio-CC(U)S initiatives in order to coordinate efforts and discuss how to communicate this important topic in the wake of the Paris agreement.
The Bio-CC(U)S workshop will feature speakers among others from IEA, carbon removal initiatives at the Universities of Oxford and Berkeley respectively, as well as the EBTP/ZEP and CSLF task forces on Bio-CCS/BECCS.
The workshop takes place on November 16th (18:00 – 20:00 UTC+2 hours) at the GHGT-13 venue (SwissTech Convention Centre), Lausanne, Switzerland. The workshop is free of charge and there is no requirement to participate to the GHGT-13 conference to get access to the workshop. Spaces are limited, though, and registration is made on a first come, first serve basis.
