Building energy distribution and consumption monitoring allows to improve energy efficiency of a household by optimizing and controlling energy consumption and production. In Finland 40% of electricity is consumed in buildings. In near future, most devices at home, including an electric car, will be able to connect themselves wirelessly to the home network - a smart grid. Also small scale private solar panels and wind turbines will be connected to the grid. A balancing problem between production and control will be solved by effectively adjusting the consumption profile of houses and buildings. The electrical loads over the network can be remotely controlled in a flexible and secure way.
