VTT and National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 9 March in Tokyo.
Both parties aim at joint research projects and researcher exchange.
Co-operation will be made especially in the fields of ICT, energy and bioeconomy.
For example in the METESE (Meaningful Technologies for Seniors – Safety, Comfort and Joy) project VTT and AIST are studying how the adoption of ICT-based applications designed for the elderly will improve care service both at home and in assisted living facilities with the help of, for instance, a robot assistant.
VTT has co-operated with AIST for long – since 2006.
The agreement is in effect for five years. The agreement was signed by
Executive Vice President, Strategic Research Anne-Christine Ritschkoff and Senior Vice President, Dr. Toshihiko Kanayama in connection with Finland-Japan technology cooperation agreement's follow-up meeting inTokyo.
