Jussi Manninen, PhD, is nominated as Executive Vice President of Solutions for Natural Resources and Environment Business Area at VTT from September 1, 2016. He will return to VTT from his current position at the Ministry of Business Affairs and Employment where he has worked as Director of Bioeconomy Programme.
Jussi Manninen worked earlier as research scientist, group and technology manager at VTT. He also worked as project manager in several VTT-group level management projects and programmes. He has wide expertise in bioeconomy, as well as in paper and energy technology. Besides industry, he also knows well EU project management and related public funding and administration activities.

There are lot of opportunities that bioeconomy brings that Finnish companies haven't utilised yet. The EVPs of the other two VTT Business Areas are Petri Kalliokoski, EVP, Knowledge Intensive Products and Services, and Erja Turunen, EVP, Smart Industry and Energy Systems.

The previous EVP of SONE, Kari Larjava will be the managing director of Global Eco Solution Oy, a VTT spin off company. He has already worked as member of the board of this company. The company is focused in the development of regional energy solutions and material efficiency solutions in Finland and abroad.
