Customer: Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK)
How to ensure that expert opinions have been correctly collected while preparing a safety case for final disposal of nuclear waste?
Assessment criteria were selected from recommendations for expert elicitation and organised as hierarchical structure of claims, arguments and subclaims. Evidences for and against the claims were collected by means of document reviews, a web survey and interviews of the experts. A software tool intended for preparing assurance cases was used to combine the detailed observations to justified conclusions and recommendations.
The structured assurance case approach provided an understandable and transparent way to document the assessment results.
