We provide solutions for quantifying medical images accurately and robustly in feasible computation time.
In radiology, the interpretation of images still relies strongly on visual inspection, which leads to partly subjective interpretation. In addition, because the amount of imaging data acquired from patients is continuously increasing, interpreting all imaging data in detail becomes even more challenging. Therefore, efficient automated tools are needed in order to extract relevant information from images for diagnostics and treatment planning.
At VTT we have more than 20 years' experience in developing algorithms for image quantification. Both image segmentation and registration have been our focus areas for a long time. Image segmentation and registration techniques are typically needed when extracting any quantitative information from images. Our software libraries include a great variety of different techniques for quantifying magnetic resonance, computerised tomography and microscopy images. We have expertise in multiple application areas, but currently neurology is one of the key focus areas. Apart from direct customer work, we also work on EU projects in this area, such as PredictND, www.predictnd.eu and VPH-DARE@IT, www.vph-dare.eu.
