The EARTO Executive Board has welcomed the nomination of Antti Vasara as Vice-President of EARTO.
Frank Treppe, an associate member of the board and the Director Corporate Strategy and International Affairs of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Germany was elected President of EARTO.
"I am honored to serve and support the voice of 350 European Research and Technology Organisations together with EARTO President Frank Treppe, in order to further raise the level, appreciation and impact of research, development and innovation in Europe," Antti Vasara commented. He also expressed his strong conviction that EARTO will remain a key partner for EU RD&I policy-makers in the future with key issues coming up on EU agenda. EARTO is an important co-operation forum that helps VTT to ensure, for example, that the interests of VTT and its customers are reflected in the EU R&D and innovation programmes and on different European decision-making forums.
EARTO is the European trade association of the research and technology organisations (RTOs), a non-profit organisation founded in 1999. EARTO groups over 350 RTOs with a combined staff of 150,000, an annual turnover of EUR15 billion, special equipment and facilities to a value of many billions of euros and more than 100,000 customers from the public and private sectors annually.
