By signing the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding, the CEIT and the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd have created conditions to establish close cooperation between the research institutes of Slovakia and Finland in the fields of science, research and technology.
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd and the Central European Institute of Technology - CEIT based in Žilina concluded a Memorandum of Understanding. The document was signed at Thursday, 22 October 2015 by the head representatives of both companies, Erkki KM Leppävuori and J. Hromada. This took place during the official visit of the President of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Kiska in Finland, who within the scope of his two-day program visited also VTT.
The act of signing the Memorandum will contribute to the formalization of cooperation between the two institutions and will help to establish close cooperation between research institutes in the fields of science, research and technology.
This Memorandum will create the preconditions for the implementation of activities aimed at increasing the competitiveness of enterprises, together with the development and introduction of innovations into industrial practice particularly in the following areas:
- robotics, industrial automation and digital technology,
- progressive technologies,
- virtual and augmented reality,
- design of production and logistics systems, via creation of cyber-physical systems.
VTT and CEIT agreed to cooperate in the establishment of joint research teams through means of research stays, engagement in international research projects, as for example the Horizon 2020, as well as the organization of joint scientific and educational seminars, conferences and symposia.
CEIT is an innovative assemble that delivers cutting-edge solutions in the field of technical and procedural innovations, industrial automation, structure and biomedical engineering, health care and education. It develops the concept of the digital enterprise and its own concept of intelligent manufacturing systems - ZIMS. CEIT is the successor of the Slovak Productivity Centre, founded in 1998 as a spin-off of the University of Žilina, with the main focus on increasing productivity as a fundamental instrument for the growth of competitiveness.
